Sacrament of Baptism

Baptism is the basis of the whole Christian life, the gateway to life in the Spirit, and the door which gives access to God's Grace and the other sacraments. Through Baptism we are freed from sin and reborn as children of God; we are incorporated into Christ's Body, the Church.  We also become members of God's Household and made sharers in the Church's mission.

Sacrament of Holy Eucharist (Holy Communion)

Our students receive First Eucharist in the month of May. With Baptism and Confirmation, Eucharist is one of the three sacraments of initiation. Through the Eucharist, we receive an increase of grace, forgiveness of venial sin, and strength to overcome faults. Jesus is really and truly present in the Eucharist under the appearances of unleavened bread and wine. The Eucharist is the source and summit of the Christian life. 134 (Catechism of the Catholic Church)

General Information

The Sacraments of First Communion and Confirmation require two years preparation. Children must attend Level One classes before entering First Communion class and Level Eight classes before entering Confirmation class. Click here for Religious Education information.

Sacrament of Confirmation

Our Students receive the Sacrament of Confirmation in the spring. With the sacraments of Baptism and Eucharist, Confirmation is one of the three Sacraments of Initiation.  Confirmation is the full outpouring of the Holy Spirit once granted to the Apostles on Pentecost. Every baptized person should receive the sacrament of Confirmation. Confirmation is not “graduation” from religious education. Candidates for Confirmation make a commitment to enter fully into the life of the Church. By making the decision to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation, the candidate decides to defend the Catholic faith and to spread it to others by living the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

General Information

We require attendance in grades seven and eight in order to enter the Confirmation class in grade 9. Click here for Religious Education information.
