Music Ministry

The Saint Mary Music Ministry is devoted to inspiring the sung prayer of the worshipping assembly.  We are committed to the principles of Vatican II, and make use of a wide range of music, from traditional to contemporary, to foster participation among our congregation.  “God has bestowed upon his people the gift of song and is present whenever his people sing his praises.  It is no wonder that singing together in church expresses so well the sacramental presence of God to his people”. (United States Bishops’ Guidelines to Liturgical Music)

CHOIRS

Our adult choir is made up of 20 volunteers, supplemented by four professional singers.  They rehearse each Thursday night from 7:30 to 9:15 in room D of the parish center, and lead the worship at the 10:30 mass each Sunday. Our choir season runs from September to June.  The choir presents an annual Christmas Concert each year in December. We welcome newcomers at any time during the year.  Call Marjorie McGovern for more information at 869-9393 ext. 116.

Our youth choir sings each Sunday at the 9:00 children’s mass, and rehearses every Thursday afternoon from 5:00 to 6:30.  They also sing at our annual parish Christmas concert.  Ms. Jenkins teaches the children not only proper singing technique, but teaches them about their faith as well.  Games and fun are also a big part of the youth choir!  New members are always welcome.  Leave a message for Jennifer Jenkins at 869-9393 ext. 116.
